KMG Ireland Training Day

Sparring Skills Workshop (10:30 – 12:30)

Following on from our previous sparring session, this workshop continues the process of building skill, composure, and confidence under pressure.

Last time we focused on reducing the fear of contact and introducing a structured pathway into sparring. This session develops that further — refining timing, distance management, and decision-making while under stress.

Sparring remains a controlled and agreed training environment. It allows us to safely pressure-test our striking, movement, and reactions from the front against a visible opponent. The goal isn’t just to “fight,” but to become more relaxed, more efficient, and more intelligent under pressure.

Self Defence Skills & P&G Level Training (1pm – 3pm)

Continuing this conversation, we now shift from agreed combat to the reality of self-defence.

If sparring is structured and consensual, self-defence is not. Attacks may come from the side, from behind, unexpectedly, and potentially with a weapon involved. There is no referee, no shared rules, and no warning bell.

This session will focus on P&G curriculum material dealing with side attacks and unexpected threats, alongside situation management and de-escalation. We’ll revisit the theory of violence — distinguishing between social and predatory violence — and examine how the body’s stress response affects our performance.

Using KMG’s timeline concept of response, we will connect awareness, prevention, and action. The objective is to bridge the gap between training and reality — understanding when to disengage, when to comply, and when decisive action is required.

Cost is €50 for the workshop which can be paid on the day, please register for this event with your instructor.
